Recycled Materials
Accurate, independent testing of materials for removal offsite, reuse on site, or reuse on another site, to Irish and European standards.
BHP Laboratories is the largest independent materials testing laboratory in Ireland providing a wide range of engineering & scientific measuring, testing and analysing services to numerous industries throughout Ireland and the UK. We provide a comprehensive range of sampling and testing solutions for the construction industry. This includes a combination of site and laboratory sampling, testing, and advising services.
Our testing focuses on the classification of these materials and assessment of the relevant standards. For existing materials on site that you want to either re-use or move from one location to another, there are various testing requirements.
Under the European Communities (Waste Directive) Regulations, Article 27 and Article 28 are two distinct legal mechanisms used to determine when excess materials or production residues are legally considered products rather than waste:
- Article 27 (By-Products): Deals with materials that were never intended to be waste, ensuring they are classified as by-products right from the production phase.
- Article 28 (End-of-Waste): Deals with materials that were waste but have undergone a recovery or recycling process so that they now meet product-equivalent standards.
Some of the services provided by our Recycled Materials Classification service include:
